Especially for the 2024 Festival, a programme to celebrate the cross-cultural art of British and Indian composers and poets. Indian composers are heard setting English poems, alongside English song settings of Indian poetry. Programme to include the world première of a new collection of miniatures by Cheryl Frances-Hoad setting Punjabi Proverbs.

To close an evening of minimalist works with the orchestra of Opera North, Lotte performs Jacob Cooper’s electronic ambient song cycle ‘Silver Threads’ – setting a haiku attributed to the famous Japanese poet Matsuo Bashō for voice and electronic track, expanded into a full cycle by poets Greg Alan Brownderville, Tarfia Faizullah, Kristin Kelly, Dora Malech, and Zach Savic.
