November 2025 Masterclass
On 30 November 2025, we were welcomed to the Royal Academy of Music for a Masterclass held by Imogen Cooper for Sherri Lun, who was named ‘2020 Performing Artist of the Year ‘ by the South China Morning Post.
The Polonaise-Fantaisie in A-flat major, Op. 61 by Frédéric Chopin.
Sherri was born in Hong Kong and currently is based in London. She was recently selected as a 2025/26 Kirckman Artist, and is also supported by the Keyboard Charitable Trust, Lang Lang International Music Foundation, Lieven Piano Foundation, and KNS Classical, with whom she released her debut CD album in 2023. Since making her concerto debut at the Ravinia Festival with the Midwest Young Artists at age 10, she has performed in major venues including Wigmore Hall in London, Foundation Louis Vitton in Paris, and Millennium Park in Chicago. Having performed extensively across Europe, Asia, and the United States, Sherri’s recent engagements include concert tours in Italy and Malaysia, with upcoming debuts at Bridgewater Hall and King’s Place in the forthcoming season. Sherri has appeared with ensembles such as the Salzburg Chamber Soloists, Munich Chamber Orchestra, Cologne Chamber Orchestra, and been broadcasted on Radio Television Hong Kong.
Sherri won First and Audience Prizes at the 2024 Birmingham International Piano Competition, and is also a 2025 Royal Over-Seas League award winner, following top prizes at the Robert Schumann (Düsseldorf), Zhuhai Mozart, ASEAN Chopin, Singapore, and Steinway & Sons Youth Piano Competitions. Most recently, she was the youngest semi-finalist at the 74th ARD International Music Competition and was awarded the Special Prize from the Mozart Society Munich. At the Royal Academy, she won consecutively the Sterndale Bennett (2022), Chung Nung Lee (2023), and Harold Craxton (2024) Prizes.
Born in 2003, Sherri majored in piano and viola as a junior student of the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts. She continued her studies with Prof. Christopher Elton at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she obtained her Bachelor’s Degree with first class honours, supported by the Hong Kong Scholarship for Excellence Scheme. She is currently pursuing her Master’s Degree as a Leverhulme Scholar while holding external scholarships from the Craxton Memorial Trust, Help Musicians UK, Rupert Heggs Award, and the Countess of Munster Musical Trust.
Imogen and Sherri are working on Chopin’s Polonaise-Fantaisie in A-flat major, Op. 61.
