The Study Week in April 2023

The Study Week took place near Saint-Rémy-de-Provence at Le Mas de la Rasclaouse, the centre of the Trust’s teaching work. As is usual for our Study Weeks, there were two scholars, Alim Beisembayev, who won first prize at the Leeds International Piano Competition in 2021, and Ariel Lanyi, winner of the 2023 Prix Serdang. They arrived on 24th April and over the next four days they received intensive private coaching with Imogen. Observers are not permitted in these sessions so that concentration is unbroken and  the close rapport between teacher and student is maintained. During the evenings there is time for informal analysis of the day’s musical findings as well as relaxation and socialising in preparation for the next day’s hard work.

Study Weeks include two ticketed events for an invited audience of supporters. The Masterclass on Friday afternoon illustrates Imogen’s approach to teaching, using new repertoire of the scholars’ choice, and on Saturday afternoon the scholars and Imogen give a concert of different repertoire.

The Trust would like to express heartfelt thanks to the generous supporters who make these study weeks possible.
